21 Centrale Partners is building a European leader in the fitness club industry through the acquisition of Silhouette the n°1 Swiss player

February 14, 2011

In 2008, 21 Centrale Partners acquired Club Med Gym from Club Méditerranée. Club Med Gym is the French leader in fitness clubs with 70,000 members. The company owns 22 fitness clubs in Paris, operates 32 “Corporate” clubs in large companies or luxury hotels, and runs IMF, a professional school which delivers trainer diplomas, accredited by European fitness authorities.

Today, 21 Centrale Partners, in association with SEC Partners, a local partner in Switzerland, has acquired Silhouette, the Swiss leader in fitness clubs with 37,000 members. Its network operates 22 member clubs in Geneva, Zürich and Brussels as well as 2 “Corporate” clubs.

Together, Club Med Gym and Silhouette, operate 44 clubs in 3 countries, and represent a global customer base of 107,000 members. They are expected to generate aggregated revenue of EUR 80 Million.

Going forward, the 2 companies will continue to pursue their core value creation strategy under the impulse of 21 Centrale Partners, focusing on strengthening their leadership position in France and in Switzerland through the opening of new fitness clubs.

Gerard Pluvinet, Founding Managing Partner of 21 Partners commented: “this new acquisition is a prime example of 21 Partners know-how in consolidating compelling businesses, leveraging on its extensive international platform. With the acquisition of Silhouette we add an international dimension to the project initiated with Club Med Gym. This has been a great story of team work in partnership with SEC Partners, Franck Gueguen and Franck Hedin respectively CEO and CFO of Club Med Gym. Many thanks to Raoul Walter, CEO of Silhouette, for partnering with us on this exciting project.”
